Musician Ricky Ross is born

Singer and songwriter Richard (Ricky) Ross was born in Dundee and, in the mid-1980s, was one of the founding members of the group Deacon Blue. The band’s debut album, Raintown, included the track Dignity which, although not reaching the top of the charts, has endured as one of the band’s best-recognised songs. The album When the World Knows Your Name followed two years later, and featured the tracks Wages Day, Fergus Sings the Blues, and Real Gone Kid, which reached 18, 14 and eight in the UK charts respectively.
